Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has pledged his strong support for his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
In a statement shared on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Davido who is billed to perform at the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert declared that he would actively resist any attempt to manipulate the electoral process in the August 15, 2026 election.
The singer reposted a video featuring former Resident Electoral Commissioner, Nnenna Otti, who spoke about electoral malpractice, on his Instagram Story. Alongside the clip, he issued a warning against vote rigging, insisting that those involved would face serious consequences.
“August 15, anybody wey try rig go collect in the highest order. I will be in the field to defend our votes. I will be in the field to defend our votes. Keke must be used if need be!!! @aadeleke_01, I’ve got your back, sir!” he wrote.
It will be recalled that in April 2026, Davido was appointed head of youth mobilisation for the Accord Party campaign council by Governor Ademola Adeleke shortly after joining the party. He also recently launched the Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Council.
