The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has confirmed the arrest of 26 suspects linked to the Yelwata massacre in Benue State, where 47 people were killed.
At a press briefing in Abuja, he explained that 28 individuals were initially detained, but two were later released after helping track the real culprits.
The IGP assured the public that the police are on top of the situation, intensifying border surveillance and recovering illegal weapons.
He also mentioned that the suspects will soon be arraigned, along with 22 others arrested in Jos over the killing of nine wedding-bound travellers.
This follows a recent joint operation in Benue, and aligns with President Tinubu’s directive to bring the perpetrators to justice.
