The online back-and-forth involving Afrobeats star Davido and Wizkid’s longtime DJ, DJ Tunez, has escalated, drawing in other public figures including former BBNaija housemate Kiddwaya and social commentator Daniel Regha.
The situation kicked off when DJ Tunez took a swipe at Davido, suggesting the singer relies heavily on his father’s wealth. The remark didn’t sit well with Davido, who quickly responded with a pointed jab, claiming Tunez’s father didn’t leave him any fortune adding that the DJ may have inherited frustration instead, which fuels his attitude.
The heated exchange soon caught Daniel Regha’s attention. Weighing in, he criticized Davido’s reaction and broader public image, arguing that the singer frequently highlights his father’s success without addressing the wider realities of wealth in Nigeria.
According to Regha:
“Davido is always quick to brag about his dad wealth or success, or use the Adeleke name to score points, but forgets one crucial fact, there are no ethical billionaires. And in a country where nothing is working well and majority are affected by abject poverty, someone being a billionaire isn’t a flex.”
He went further to argue that many wealthy individuals in Nigeria are not solving societal problems but are instead beneficiaries of systemic issues, suggesting their close ties to power raise questions about integrity.
“The wealthy people we have in this country aren’t problem solvers, and never have. All are wealthy because the govt doesn’t want to do their jobs, and all are friends with the people in power or associates; That alone compromises their integrity.”
Kiddwaya, however, didn’t agree with Regha’s stance. Reacting sharply, he mocked the commentator, implying that his perspective might be different if he came from wealth.
“If your daddy had money you sef will be tweeting your rubbish from a private jet instead of posting your eba and egusi soup from a single cooker.”
