Porsha Williams Describes Divorce from Simon Guobadia as a ‘Relief’

Simon Guobadia, a Nigerian-American businessman, has opened up in a bold new interview, revealing shocking details about his short-lived marriage to reality star Porsha Williams.

Speaking with Page Six, the 61-year-old didn’t mince words, expressing regret over tying the knot with the Real Housewives of Atlanta star. He accused Williams of entering the relationship for financial gain, stating, “I think I was targeted. I was targeted from day one for financial reasons.”

Simon explained that their relationship began during a difficult period in his life right after his divorce from fellow RHOA cast member Falynn Guobadia. He claimed Porsha reached out via direct message, and within just 30 days, the couple was engaged. Reflecting on the whirlwind decision, he said it was the “worst mistake of his life.”

Guobadia, who was deported to Nigeria earlier this month after spending four months in ICE custody due to immigration violations, said he was blindsided when Porsha filed for divorce in February 2024 just 14 months after their wedding.

While Porsha cited issues related to his immigration status as the reason for the split, calling it a “dark road,” Simon offered a different take. He revealed that he compared the marriage to a failed financial venture in a text message to her: “This was a $5 million rehab project that I took on.”

Legal documents show that Porsha will receive $560,000 in alimony over 14 months and has secured the right to stay in their Atlanta home for another three years—at Simon’s expense. However, he warned that “if she chooses to buy the property, she must give him 50% equity.” He added, “Of course, I’m appealing. I’ve honored prenups in past marriages, but not this time. I’ll take it to the Supreme Court if I have to.”

Though the couple didn’t have children together, both had children from previous relationships. Simon said he purposely avoided forming a bond with Porsha’s daughter, PJ, explaining, “I don’t have a relationship with her daughter. Women often use kids to get back into your life, and Porsha is no exception.” He also claimed that she reached out during the divorce, saying her daughter missed him, but he ignored the message.
