“I Felt Cheated” – Lady Asks Friend to Refund ₦150,000 After Marriage Collapses in Four Days

  • A woman has gone viral after claiming she asked a friend to refund the ₦150,000 she contributed to his wedding after his marriage reportedly ended just four days later.
  • While some social media users support her request, others insist wedding contributions are gifts that should not be refunded regardless of the outcome of the marriage.

A lady has sparked widespread debate on social media after revealing that she demanded a ₦150,000 refund from a friend whose marriage reportedly ended just four days after their wedding ceremony.

The woman shared her frustration in a viral post, saying she was left feeling cheated after making what she described as a significant financial contribution toward the wedding, only for the marriage to collapse less than a week later.

According to her, the couple announced the end of their marriage via their social media status without offering any explanation for the sudden separation.

Expressing her disappointment, she wrote:

“I didn’t sleep for almost a week after giving ₦150,000 to a friend on his wedding ceremony, only for the marriage to end after four days. Not even four weeks or four months. No one knows the reason, they just posted it on their status and that’s it.

“I felt cheated cause tell me why you guys didn’t separate before the wedding? I ended up asking for a refund. My friend blocked me the next day. I feel cheated honestly. What do you mean you guys are done after collecting my ₦150,000?”

Her post quickly gained attention online, with many social media users weighing in on whether wedding gifts or financial contributions should be refunded if a marriage ends shortly after the ceremony.

While some commenters sympathised with the lady, arguing that the marriage’s abrupt end made her frustration understandable, others maintained that money given for a wedding should be considered a gift rather than an investment or loan.
