I expected her to cry – Black Coffee shares ex-wife’s unthankful attitude to car gift

South African artist Black Coffee has spoken up about his ex-wife Enhle Mbali’s unappreciative attitude to an expensive car he bought for her during their marriage, which left him unhappy.

In a recent interview with Kaya 959, the Grammy-winning DJ revealed that the reaction he received upon presenting his gift to his wife was unexpected.

He described how he expected tears of appreciation and delight when he presented her with the pricey gift, but instead received a cold and ungrateful answer.

He claimed that the event left him feeling undervalued and unappreciated.

“The response wasn’t what I expected; she wasn’t excited. I expected her to even cry, but she was just like; ‘Oh, nice, thank you.’ And it sat with me heavily for a long time as someone who was not appreciating,” he said.

Remember that Black Coffee and Mbali’s marriage ended in 2019 after she accused the record producer of infidelity and cruelty.

During their marriage, the singer had two children with various women.

In 2022, South Africa’s Black Coffee becomes the first African DJ to win a Grammy.

The legendary DJ defeated Illenium, Major Lazer, Marshmello, Sylvan Esso, and Ten City to claim the Best Dance/Electronic Album prise for his seventh studio album, ‘Subconsciously.’

Black Coffee, who was accompanied by his son Esona to accept the coveted award, expressed his gratitude: “I want to thank God for the gift of music and being able to share it with the world, to heal souls and help people go through whatever they are going through in life.”

“Thank you to my fans around the world for believing in me. I want to thank my family and my children,” he added in his Grammy speech, while thanking his fans.
