Nnamdi Kanu will not succeed, i advice him to drop evil Biafra project– Orji Uzor Kalu reveals A former governor of Abia state and chairman of Slok group, Orji Uzor Kalu has said that the Biafran agitation being spearheaded by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB,Nnamdi Kanu, will not succeed. Kalu, while delivering a lecture at the Inauguration of an Igbo support group for Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, in Lokoja on Saturday, insinuated that the actualization of Biafra will not be possible now. In his words: “We must fix Nigeria to work for all inclusive of all aspiration of all. We (Igbo) have made progress but it is not yet Uhuru for us. This is not the time to pop champagne but a time for conscious reflection on the road we have passed, where we are and where we intend to be in the years ahead. As Igbos, we must stop listening to people who says Biafra is possible. If we want Biafra we must first ensure that referendum is included in the constitutional review. Nigeria should be thinking of annexing other Africa country rather than dividing it. China is 2 billion and not talking about secession. But Nigeria with less than 200 million populace is talking secession,”. He also decried the rise of Ethnic activism while reacting to the Igbo quit notice by Arewa youths. He said; “Recently, we have witnessed a rise in ethnic activism. A lot of people have expressed fears that Nigeria may be coming to an end. Well in politics, you have to entertain all manner of fears while working on possibilities. However, because of that fears, we have seen a ‘quit notice’ order from some northern youth groups. I will focus on the possibilities. And the first is that a United Nigeria is an easier possibility than a balkanized country. I see a more united country rising from the ashes of hate and fear. However, the issues raised have causes some to wonder if the Igbo have leaders. Of course, Igbo’s leaders are talking and dialoguing. In politics, you often dialogue more than you talk. So, in managing a diverse country like Nigeria, you need to dialogue and communicate rightly. That way you will be able to manage tension. In this regard, I want to specially thank the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo led by Chief John Nnia Nwodo for the matured way they handle the quit notice. People are naturally attached to their religion, customs, and tradition. People take offence at the abuse of their religion, customs and tradition. This is because any such abuse is considered an affront. I am not sure of any Igbo man who will like a non-Igbo resident in his village transgressing the custom of his people. If you will not like that, don’t do it to another person. That is the golden rule. If you do just that, the source of friction and trouble will be defeated. I believe the Igbo are in a better position to understand that all politics like they say, is local. It, therefore, suggest that the Igbo must see the need to align properly and seek strategic partnership of other interest groups and political blocs to achieve whatever developmental ideas that they have; such as the shoot for the presidency. In politics, you market yourself and make yourself a strategic ally. It is when you achieve this that you put your cards on the table. If the Igbo work themselves into a very strategic political partner, while not putting their eggs into one basket, we can then put the cards on the table before our partners to determine what we get for and what they get from us. We cannot, however, do that when we remain antagonistic to one another. We cannot achieve it when we scare everyone away with hate. We cannot achieve it if we think its Igbo and Igbo alone. We must build necessary networks. We must build alliances across political divide. These are very important so that our own stories can be told and heard too. If we don’t build such alliances, we may not be able to market our demands.” Kalu advised.‘I Don’t Give A H**T Of What You Think About Me’ -Orji Uzor Kalu Tells IPOB

Following IPOB’s reply to the claims he made in an interview in which he alleged that IPOB’s leader Nnamdi Kanu is no longer in Nigeria, but escaped through Malaysia, former Governor of Abia State Orji Uzor Kalu in a statement released through his Special Assistant,  Peter Eze on Tuesday, said he cannot be worried about false opinions of IPOB’s spokesman and Lawyer about him, when there are so many other things to be concerned about.

He further said this is not the first time he’s been misunderstood,as most Nigerians are interested in sensational headlines and care less about details, ” I believe everyone has right priorities and knows what really matters. For instance, our Igbo brothers are safe in the North and our minds are settled over their property, and that’s what matters. Dancing to the beats of a popular drum isn’t top of my list. These boys hurling abuses and insults on everyone that stands against division are simply ignorant.I forgive them” he said.

The former Governor who chided IPOB further claimed the group was running the interest of some politicians and despising good counsel, as he further said it is laughable when people try to link his actions with corruption charges leveled against him since 2007.

According to him, Nigerians knew him before the charges and the genesis of the  allegations and how it was  targeted to destroy him politically.  He however said the case being in a court of competent jurisdiction, he prefers not making further statements on it.

Orji Uzor Kalu also advised IPOB to be more civil in their utterances, as he said that attacking his personality  and leaving the issue he raised makes them look irresponsible, as he claimed that him being silent in the face of Biafra agitation and its dangerous consequence would amount to wickedness and disregard for safety of lives of the Igbo people.

” I wonder how IPOB easily forgot their lines. They have had many of  their detained members bailed through my intervention.

“Would it be appropriate for even somebody like Emma Powerful to heap unprintable  insults and accusations on me? I bailed him out when he was detained and was left to rot in prison.

“When Nnamdi  was in prison, I was the first to visit him thus opening doors for others to do same.I did that because he is my brother.  Although he showed a lot of appreciations during the visit but  he still maintained his ground on Biafra. For the sake of posterity , I have made my stand clear. In a restructured Nigeria, Igbo people would be better off .We got it wrong in 1967 and we need to get it right now, else we get it wrong again.” Kalu warned  in the statement.
