Nollywood actress Habibat Jinad has recounted a challenging experience she faced while working as a film producer, revealing how veteran actor Odunlade Adekola came through for her at a difficult time.
Speaking in an interview, she said the incident happened during one of her film projects, where she struggled both financially and emotionally while trying to complete the production.
Habibat explained that she invited Odunlade Adekola to feature in her movie and offered him a fee of N130,000. To her surprise, the seasoned actor accepted the offer and showed up on set, even though his usual rate is far higher.
However, complications arose when another actor on the project learned that Odunlade had joined the cast. According to her, this caused tension on set, as the actor suddenly became difficult and insisted on being fully paid before continuing his role.
She recalled the incident vividly, saying the situation escalated to the point where the actor drove off, leaving her distressed as she ran after the vehicle to plead with him.
“The actor drove off, and I had to pursue his car while pleading with him. I can’t forget it,” she said.
Habibat noted that the experience left her emotionally drained and exposed the struggles many emerging producers quietly face in the industry.
The following day, she returned to set visibly unsettled. She said Odunlade noticed her mood and asked what was wrong. After she explained her financial difficulty, the actor reportedly gave her N20,000 without hesitation or conditions.
“To my surprise, he gave me N20,000 without asking for a return,” she said.
Although the amount may appear small, Habibat stressed that the gesture meant a great deal to her at the time, describing it as an act of genuine kindness during a period of hardship.
She expressed deep gratitude to the actor, praying for him and acknowledging the impact of his support.
“Brother Odun, God bless you. If I remember what he did, my heart prays for him,” she added.
Habibat further stated that the experience, though painful, helped strengthen her resolve as a producer and taught her important lessons about resilience in the film industry.
