A Nigerian lady has sparked widespread reactions online after sharing what she described as “unacceptable” habits she has observed in her mother’s marriage, adding that she would never repeat the same patterns in her own relationship.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by @AsakyGRN, she spoke about her parents’ daily lifestyle, pointing out how her mother consistently handles most household duties even after both parents return from work.

She said she had closely observed their routine and found certain behaviors difficult to understand.

“Things my mother does in her marriage that I find really absurd and I’ll never do,” she said.

According to her, her mother does not reprimand her father even when he is wrong and often goes the extra mile in caring for him in ways she personally considers excessive.

She also mentioned that after her father eats, her mother still takes up his plate, a gesture she said she would never do.

“Number two, anytime my dad finishes eating, my mum carries his plate. The most I can do for my man is serve him food, and that’s only if I’m in a good mood. I can never carry a plate for my man,” she added.

The lady further noted that despite both parents working, her mother still cooks daily while her father usually rests after returning from work, describing the arrangement as one she finds hard to accept.

Her remarks have since triggered mixed reactions on social media, with some users criticizing her views as disrespectful to traditional marriage values, while others argue that modern relationships should be built on balance and shared responsibility rather than fixed gender roles.
