Fans were thrown into a frenzy this week after YouTuber Bubba the Love Sponge claimed during a livestream that the wrestling icon, whose real name is Terry Gene Bollea, was gravely ill and might not survive.
The claim quickly spread across social media, prompting widespread concern among wrestling fans and pop culture followers.
However, a representative for the 71-year-old star has put those fears to rest. Speaking to E! News, the rep confirmed that Hogan was recently hospitalized for a routine neck surgery, but emphasized there is “no reason to panic.”
“He’s had issues with his back for years,” the rep explained. “But there’s no emergency. His condition is stable, and the procedure went well.”
The clarification has brought relief to many of Hogan’s supporters, who continue to express love and support for the wrestling icon known for his decades-long influence on sports entertainment.
