The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has offered reasons why he was not at the meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and the 36 State Governors, in Abuja.

Fayose, in a series of tweets on Friday, offered that he did not shun the President, but had more pressing engagements to attend to in his State.

The Governor revealed that he had a traditional installation as Apesin of Ado Ekiti, slated for the same day, and he could not abandon it for an impromptu meeting with the President.

“For those insinuating that I shunned the President’s meeting with Governors, I didn’t. I had my installation as Apesin of Ado Ekiti slated for today.

“Also, there is Udiroko, a major festival in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital tomorrow, to which I am committed.

“There was no how I could have abandoned the people here in Ado Ekiti, for the IMPROMPTU meeting with the President.

“Guests were already in Ekiti since yesterday for the chieftaincy title installation, before I received notice of d meeting with the President”, the Governor tweeted.

Pictures emerged elsewhere of Fayose being installed as the Apesin (Apagun P’ote) of Ado Ekiti with his Gombe State counterpart, Ibrahim Dankwambo, installed as the Akinmuagun of Ado Ekiti, by the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, on Friday.

It is yet undetermined if Damkwambo on his part attended the meeting with the President, in Abuja.

Gistlover.com recalled, that Fayose had earlier in the week, said that he has no apology whatsoever for all he said about the President.

Apparently challenging those asking him to apologise for his comments over the President’s health to do their worst, Fayose asked Buhari to stop deceiving Nigerians, and go back to his home town in Daura, Katsina State, to rest.

On whether he would visit Buhari if asked to do so he said: “I cannot go and greet the President if invited, and the reason is that such action would be misinterpreted to be something else. So, it is good for me to wish him well from a distance, and be able to tell Nigerians the truth.”
