A 27-year-old Nigerian man, Rotji Lazarus, tragically lost his life just a day before he was set to travel abroad for a new job opportunity.

Rotji, from the Gwalameji area of Bauchi, was killed by a hit-and-run driver along the Bauchi–Dass Road in Yelwa, near the POWA shops by the Police Barracks. Eyewitnesses said the accident happened at night, with the vehicle—whose headlights were off—striking him and fleeing towards the Rafin Zurfi axis of the Tafawa-Balewa Road.

The young man, a graduate of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi and holder of a Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism and Leisure Management from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, was reportedly selling fruit juice near the scene when the incident occurred.

In a condolence message, Bauchi State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Professor Titus Saul Ketkukah, sympathized with his Special Adviser, Lazarus Buba, the father of the deceased. He described Rotji as a humble, respectful, and gentle young man who was well-loved by his family and community.
