The Federal Fire Service Kaduna Command on Wednesday gave stern warning to residents of potential fire outbreaks during the Harmattan season.

The Federal Fire Commander for Kaduna Command, Sadiq Usman, who announced this in a statement, said the goal was to protect lives and property as climate-related accidents in Nigeria continued to escalate.

He claimed that the call was essential because the probability of fires and other related situations increased dramatically due to a combination of falling temperatures, strong winds, and greater usage of heating sources during the season.

Usman claimed that by turning on its early alerts, the Federal Fire Service was taking proactive steps to avert fire tragedies during the harmattan season.

He emphasized the importance of early warning systems and quick responses to prevent humanitarian crises, especially in vulnerable and isolated areas.

“It is necessary to maintain a state of readiness and enable swift responses during emergencies. The Fire Service is urging state’s host communities to actively engage in risk management.

This involves working with the Fire Service to increase public awareness and improve risk mitigation and disseminating timely information to pertinent stakeholders.

The commander gave the populace reassurance that he was prepared to properly handle fire breakouts and other catastrophes.
