Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, paid a visit to his hometown of Benin City after a six-year absence.

A viral video shows the Mavin artistes mixing with a group of native entertainers from his state, including Shallipopi and Davido’s loyal aide, Israel DMW.

The clip showed a group of men coming down the plane aisle, with the DND hitmaker at the front, eagerly taking pictures with those around him.

In another intriguing video, Rema was welcomed by a vibrant cultural dance ensemble upon his arrival at the airport, displaying a warm and joyful welcome.

Rema rose to fame with the release of his 2019 smash single “Dumebi.” Prior to that milestone, he had signed a deal with D’Prince’s renowned record label, Jonzing World, as well as affiliations with Don Jazzy’s illustrious Mavin Records.

His 2022 smash hit single, “Calm Down,” featured a sizzling remix featuring American pop starlet Selena Gomez, propelling it to an astonishing third position on the coveted Billboard Hot 100.

The song topped the US Afrobeats Songs chart for a record 58 weeks, cementing Rema’s prominence as a global phenomenon.

Since settling in Lagos in 2018, the singer is finally making  a triumphant return to his hometown for the first time in 2024, marking a crucial milestone in his rise from local acclaim to international stardom.
