- The ruling was issued on Tuesday after he was presented in court by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has approved bail for former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in connection with corruption allegations filed against him.
The bail ruling was delivered on Tuesday after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) brought him before the court following his detention.
Presiding judge, Justice Rilwanu Aikawa, set bail at ₦200 million and required two sureties in the same amount, noting that the terms were “strict and extensive.”
However, the court ordered that El-Rufai remain in ICPC custody until he fulfills all the bail requirements.
Under the bail terms, the sureties are mandated to submit their international passports to the court. One surety must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 15, while the second must be a recognised traditional ruler.
The court further restrained the former governor from making public statements regarding the case and directed him to be present at all scheduled court appearances.
The matter had previously been adjourned from April 1 to April 14, 2026, to allow both the prosecution and defence to conclude their submissions before the ruling.
El-Rufai will remain in custody until all conditions are satisfied, as proceedings in the corruption case continue.
