Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has clarified his reason for joining Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo on a statewide inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects, just weeks after he openly criticised President Bola Tinubu in Benin City, where he described him as “the worst president.”
The surprise appearance saw the veteran artiste accompany the governor across several local government areas in Edo State, where they assessed ongoing road constructions and other development projects.
Explaining his decision, Eedris said he wanted to personally confirm the level of progress being claimed in the state rather than rely on hearsay or public reports.
After visiting multiple project sites, the rapper said he was impressed with the work done so far, adding that the full impact of the developments would become more obvious in the coming years.
“I came to see for myself if Edo is truly working, and I must say the governor has done a lot. I have gone round and seen several projects. In the next one or two years, the achievements will be even more evident,” he stated.
He also urged Edo indigenes living abroad to return home and witness the ongoing developments firsthand.
Governor Okpebholo, while hosting the rapper, restated his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure, education, and healthcare across the state.
He further attributed the pace of development to increased federal allocations under President Tinubu, insisting that his government is focused on delivering tangible results to residents.
“Eedris, thank you for coming to Edo State. When I say we will deliver 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu, people doubt it. But today, you have seen for yourself how people are coming out because of what we are doing,” the governor said.
Okpebholo added that his administration remains focused on upgrading roads, schools, and hospitals to improve the standard of living in Edo State.
“These roads are in Edo State. We must work for Edo people. You have gone round schools, roads, hospitals. These are the things our people want to see, and that is exactly what we are doing,” he added.
