Sanwo-Olu appoint new special advisers

The Supreme Court has upheld the election victory of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The central argument made by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s candidate for the election, centers on Sanwo-Olu’s eligibility to be Olu’s running mate.

Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor, allegedly gave up his Nigerian citizenship, according to him.

The deputy of Sanwo-Olu is a Citizen of Nigeria, the court said.

The Nigerian president must register the renounciation of citizenship of a citizen by birth, the court stated, noting that the petitioner had not produced any proof to that effect.

However, the appeal filed by the Labour Party candidate was rejected by the court due to its lack of validity.

On the PDP’s side, Abdulazeez Adediran, also referred to as Jandor, argued that Sanwo-Olu’s name on his WAEC certificate was not the same as the one he presented to INEC.
