Former Big Brother Naija star Uriel Oputa has spoken out following the reported death of Lagos socialite Elena Jessica, who allegedly lost her life after complications from a cosmetic surgery procedure.
Elena was said to have died in Lagos after undergoing what her family described as her second Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery at Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital.
Reacting to the tragic development, Uriel took to her Instagram story to caution women about the risks associated with cosmetic procedures, stressing that BBL surgery should never be viewed as something that improves one’s health.
According to her, the procedure only alters a person’s physical appearance and has no positive effect on internal health.
“A Brazilian Butt Lift doesn’t make you healthier. It’s a cosmetic procedure that reshapes the body by removing fat from one part of the body and transferring it to the buttocks. While it may change your appearance, it does nothing to improve the internal systems that determine real health,” she wrote.
Uriel also warned that the growing trend of seeking quick body transformations can expose people to serious and sometimes life-threatening consequences.
“We’re living in a time where shortcuts are becoming normal, but shortcuts with our bodies can come with serious risks. If anyone decides to take that path, please make sure you do proper research and make informed decisions,” she advised.
She further expressed sympathy for Elena Jessica’s loved ones, noting that such incidents serve as painful reminders of the importance of prioritizing health and safety.
“My heart goes out to the family affected by the recent loss. Situations like this are a painful reminder that our health and safety must always come first.”
