The governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has warned security agencies about a plot by the state’s opposition to wreak havoc in the Ogbia local government area on election day, November 11.

Chief Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor, was also denigrated by Governor Diri as being opposed to progress and development.

Following a campaign stop at the riverine Anyama-Ogbia and Emadike communities, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor of Bayelsa spoke at the Ogbia Constituency 2 rally in Otuokpoti.

He disclosed that the opposition intended to send thugs to Anyama-Ogbia to cause mayhem.

The conflict, he declared, is between those who support and oppose development. Between light and darkness, that is. We’re talking about how you’re growing as people and as a society.

Let the world know that they intend to bring youths from outside the area to Anyama, where we have strongholds, dress them in military garb, and wreak havoc while working together with one or two locals. Let the military and the rest of the world know. “.

He promised to take on more initiatives if re-elected after listing the local government projects his administration had started.

We are currently constructing a road from Akaba in Yenagoa to Okodi and Emadike. They were in office for five years, and what did they do in Ogbia land? Unpassable and destroyed was the Otuoke-Onuebum road. However, that road is almost finished now.

The community of Elebele was cut off, and we built that bridge as one of our first projects. We also carried out the same action with the Imiringi community bridge.

“A metallic bridge was part of the old Elebele bypass. The road there, however, is one that is appropriate. For us, that is how the state can advance.

“We’ve been teaching the kids how to fish ever since we arrived. Numerous young people in our country today are learning skills they can use to support themselves without having to beg thanks to the Diri skills acquisition program. To support small and medium-sized businesses, we currently provide grants of N200,000 per month to 420 people spread across the 105 wards of the state. “.

The governor announced at Anyama-Ogbia that the road connecting Akaba, Okodi, and Emadike, which had been in the planning stages for a while, was currently being built and would be finished soon to boost local economic activity.

When he runs for office again, he has pledged to work with the necessary organizations to start shoreline protection efforts to stop the erosion that has ravaged the neighborhood.

He also emphasized that protecting people’s lives and property is a government duty, and he urged traditional chiefs to uphold peace in their lands.

The governor thanked the populace for their support and noted that the gesture would inspire him to do more after receiving a large number of APC defectors.

The governor made a commitment at Emadike to collaborate with the necessary parties in order to expedite the resettlement of those who were displaced several years ago as a result of an intercommunal conflict.

Additionally, he opened the neighborhood’s playground.

The Bayelsa East senator, Chief Benson Agadaga, stated at Otuokpoti that the Ogbia people owe the PDP a favor because the party had produced a Nigerian president from the region.

Governor Diri deserved to be re-elected, according to Mitema Obordor, director general of the PDP Governorship Campaign Council and member of the House of Representatives for the Ogbia Federal Constituency.
