The trial of Nigerian actor, Omiyinka Olanrewaju better known as Baba Ijesha, for the alleged sexual assault of foster daughter of Nigerian comedienne, Princess resumed today, Monday July 26, 2021.
The 48-year-old embattled thespian is being tried on a six-count charge which includes sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child, and sexual assault.
Others charges are the indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault by penetration.
On Monday morning, Ijesha arrived at the court at about 9:30 am in the company of his friends. Also in attendance at the court were comedian, Princess and Iyabo Ojo
Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo and Nigerian comedienne, Princess have arrived at the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja over the child molestation case levelled against Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha.
Recall that the court granted the actor bail on June 24, 2021.
Baba Ijesha who is being tried by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo over charges bothering on rape, sexual assault and abuse of a minor, was granted bail on the ground that it was his fundamental human rights.
The actor was charged on six counts of sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child, and sexual assault, which contravene sections 259, 135, and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011, as well as 135, 263, and 262 Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The actor has been in the news for a while after he was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the care of Princess.
Dada Awosika, SAN; Babatunde Ogala, SAN; and 17 other lawyers had represented Baba Ijesha in court at the last sitting.
