Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president and the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president in the general elections of 2023, has come under fire for allegedly withholding his academic transcripts.

To urge the court to declare President Bola Tinubu ineligible, Atiku dispatched legal representatives to the US to compel Chicago State University (CSU) to provide the academic records of the university.

But despite Premium Times’ request, the politician from Adamawa did not make his personal data available.

According to the online newspaper, the PDP leader was requested to submit copies of all the academic credentials he had earned, ranging from elementary school to university, including a certificate of master’s degree, as stated in his application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for his candidacies in the 2019 and 2023 presidential contests.

Seven weeks after receiving a letter to that effect, Atiku allegedly refused to release the certificates. The publication claimed to have delivered copies of the original letter and the reminder to Atiku’s media office and home in the affluent Asokoro neighborhood, both of which acknowledged receipt.

Our courier service providers returned proofs of delivery to our headquarters,” the newspaper stated and shared a copy of the letter.
