Armed Robber Kneels Down While Begging To Escape After Being Trapped In A Store [Photos]

A robber who tried to hold up a shop ended up begging to be released after he was locked inside by brave staff. John Bell, 22, walked into the store and demanded an employee open the till. But she refused and told customers to get out, before walking out of the front door and locking it, trapping Bell inside.

According to police Basit Mian, the mobile phone store owner, says his wife locked Bell inside while she called police, after he went to the back office to look for money.

Mr Mian said he and his wife were fed up after the same man robbed them two weeks earlier, stealing $2,000 (£1,474), along with seven high-end cell phones from the shop in Houston, Texas.

The video showed Bell using a gun to try to shoot the lock, throwing his shoulder into the barred glass of the door and trying to use something he found in the store to attack the lock.

But before he could make his escape, armed police entered the store and arrested him.

Mr Mian called his wife a hero.

Bell pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to five years in prison.
