David “Davido” Adeleke, a Nigerian music singer, has taken legal action against Kenya’s Mediamax’s K24 TV following a story that he was detained in Uganda.

“I have never been arrested by anyone in any country” – Davido denies viral reports of being arrested in Kenya

The DMW chief, through his attorneys, issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the TV network, seeking an explicit apology, defamation recognition, and adequate reimbursement for his legal costs.

This was said in a pre-suit letter, in which the musician served Kenya’s K24 TV with a Fool’s Day article titled “Davido detained at JKIA after Sh18 million cocaine haul found in his private jet.”

In a notification sent by Conrad Law Advocates on Wednesday, Davido criticized the publication and indicated that failing to comply with his requests will result in legal action.

The singer’s lawyers stated in part; “The statements found in your article are blatantly false and published with the express intent of disparaging our client”.

“Your statements are false and affect our client’s professional reputation by falsely stating that Davido was arrested for drug-related offenses”.

The business sought Mediamax’s K24 TV to stop publishing defamatory claims about him, apologize, accept guilt for defaming the musician, and reimburse him for his legal expenses and costs.

The notification came hours after Davido replied to the cocaine charges with a post on his social media sites, defending himself as a law-abiding man.
