After Hitting 500K Sales, ‘Essence’ by Wizkid Featuring Tems Goes Gold in US

Song of the summer, ‘Essence’ by Wizkid featuring Tems, has reportedly gone Gold in the US after raking in 500,000 sales in the country. The song is by far the most successful African song this year. It has topped almost every Afrobeat Chart and even penetrated other genres since it was released.

It bagged its first major milestone when it appeared in the top ten songs on Apple Music in the US; which set a record by becoming the first African song to achieve that. The song is by far the most streamed Afrobeats tune on many music platforms.

The remix of it was recently released, which features Canadian Singer, Justin Bieber. Most people openly disapproved of the thought of the remix; constantly complaining about how irrelevant it is. Others also think it’s a financially and professionally beneficial move for the Grammy award winner. The main album which birthed ‘Essence’ is set to release its deluxe version on 27th August 2021 as announced by Wizkid earlier this week.
