“I Don’t Need Friends Who Always Agree With Me”- Peter Obi

  • Peter Obi emphasizes the value of honest friendships.
  • He prefers relationships where friends challenge each other instead of just agreeing.
  • Genuine friendships involve constructive criticism and open dialogue.

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has shared his thoughts on the importance of honest friendships, saying he has little interest in relationships where people constantly agree with him.

Speaking during a recent engagement, Obi remarked that genuine friends should be willing to challenge one another rather than offer endless approval.

According to him, if someone agrees with everything he says for three consecutive months, he begins to question the value of that friendship.

“If you are my friend and you agree with me for 3 months, I don’t need you.”

The former Anambra State governor explained that meaningful friendships thrive on constructive criticism, differing opinions, and sincere advice. He stressed that surrounding oneself with people who only echo one’s views can limit personal growth and lead to poor decision-making.

Obi’s comment has since sparked conversations on social media, with many Nigerians interpreting it as a reminder of the value of accountability and honest relationships. While some users praised his perspective on leadership and personal development, others debated whether constant disagreement is always a sign of genuine friendship.
