An emotional video of a Nigerian makeup artist regretting her decision to relocate abroad has gone viral, sparking conversations about the realities of migrating in search of greener pastures.
In the video, the visibly distressed woman said the life she met abroad was completely different from what she had been told before leaving Nigeria. She explained that she abandoned her plans to complete her Higher National Diploma (HND) after being persuaded that better financial opportunities awaited her overseas.
According to her, she was supposed to complete her school clearance and return to continue her studies but decided to relocate instead, believing she would earn more money abroad.
Expressing disappointment, the makeup artist claimed that many people mislead others with unrealistic stories about life outside Nigeria.
“Dem go just carry lie like this, lie for person, say make you leave your country go another country say money dey there. This one happen, I be makeup artist o I left it.
“I’m supposed to do my clearance and go back for HND. Yes, I know say money no dey, make I come here come find money, but all these things na lie dem dey lie.
“Before you leave your country go anywhere, check well because I don’t understand why. I just want to go back to my country. I just want to go back to Nigeria because wetin I dey see no be wetin dem tell me. I don tire.”
The viral video has since generated mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians sharing their experiences of the challenges and realities of relocating abroad, while others advised intending migrants to properly research and prepare before making such life-changing decisions.
