Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems has dismissed speculation linking her romantically with Maduka Okoye after being asked about the Super Eagles goalkeeper during a recent interview.

Speaking about representing Africa on the global stage, Tems expressed excitement over the growing international recognition of African music and said she is proud to be part of the movement.

“It’s amazing, you know, coming from Nigeria. I’m just really happy where African music is going right now. Everybody’s popping off and everybody’s shining. So I’m just happy to be a part of that.”

The interview took a playful turn when the host asked whether she knew the Nigerian goalkeeper who has been making headlines online.

Tems initially joked:

“Do I know him personally?”

She then clarified:

“I think I do. No, no, no, no, no. I don’t.”

Sensing an opportunity to tease the singer, the host suggested:

“We should shoot our shot.”

However, Tems quickly ruled out the idea, saying she had no interest in pursuing anything romantic.

“Shoot? No, no, no, we don’t shoot shots here. We’re friends. We ‘friend’ each other and we’re family. No shots.”

The hosts continued the banter, saying:

“Just family. Just sisters and brothers.”

Before adding:

“If you shoot, you miss. No shots over here.”

Tems laughed along and maintained her stance, keeping the exchange lighthearted while shutting down any dating speculation.
