Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing what she described as persistent marginalization, disrespect, and unfair treatment within the party.

According to reports, Prof. Obasanjo communicated her decision in a resignation letter dated May 31 and addressed to the Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi.

Her resignation comes just months after she joined the ruling party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared interest in the 2027 Ogun State governorship race.

Despite later stepping down her ambition and endorsing the party’s reported consensus candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Prof. Obasanjo reportedly became dissatisfied with her treatment within the party structure.

In her letter, she reportedly complained of continued rejection and lack of recognition despite her support for the party and its preferred candidate.
