Mary Njoku Opens Up About Struggles with Uncertainty and Sleepless Nights

Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has shared a message directed at African Christians amid ongoing challenges facing many countries across the continent.

Taking to her Instagram page, the actress stressed the importance of distinguishing between spiritual matters and practical issues. According to her, while prayer remains valuable for direction and inspiration, societal problems such as insecurity, poor infrastructure, and inadequate healthcare require concrete actions, strategic planning, accountability, and consistent effort to be resolved.

Njoku explained that prayer alone does not put food on the table, noting that individuals must still engage in activities such as farming, harvesting, transportation, and preparation before meals become available. She further referenced biblical teachings, pointing out that many instances of provision were achieved through people, work, and deliberate action rather than miracles alone.

Addressing Christians across Africa, the actress encouraged believers to embrace both faith and responsibility, urging them not to mistake prayer for the practical steps needed to drive change and solve real-world problems.

Herwords..

“Physical problems require physical solutions. Spiritual problems require spiritual solutions.

You cannot pray food onto your plate. Someone has to plant it, harvest it, transport it, cook it, or provide the means for you to get it yourself. Even in the bible, provision often came through people, work, and practical action.

Good roads, quality healthcare, education, security, and economic growth will not appear simply because we pray about them. Prayer can guide us, strengthen us, and give us wisdom, but physical problems must also be addressed with physical action, planning, accountability, and hard work.

“Dear African Christians, as we continue to pray, let us not confuse prayer with action. You cannot bind and cast away bad roads. You cannot rebuke a failing healthcare system into working. You cannot pray away the bandits who are terrorising our lives.

Faith and action are not enemies. They work together”.
