- Solomon Buchi criticized gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori for her comments on Nigeria’s security issues.
- Alaseyori urged Nigerians to pray for the country, emphasizing the government’s efforts to address insecurity.
- The exchange highlights differing perspectives on the role of prayer versus action in tackling national challenges.

Writer and social commentator Solomon Buchi has taken aim at gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori following her recent video comments on Nigeria’s security situation.
Alaseyori had called on Nigerians to pray for the country, insisting that the president and his vice are making efforts to tackle the growing insecurity challenges.
Reacting to her statement, Buchi criticized what he described as the growing closeness between some religious figures and political leaders, saying it often affects their ability to speak honestly about the realities facing citizens.
He expressed deep concern over the rising wave of insecurity, especially cases involving the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers, and questioned whether government responses have truly been effective.
The media personality further argued that while prayer and faith remain important, they cannot replace good governance, strong policies, and decisive leadership.
According to him, national progress depends more on accountability and practical action from leaders than on spiritual appeals alone.
His words …
“Just because you added some mellow music in the background, doesn’t mean what you’re saying makes sense. It doesn’t mean you know what you are saying.
Some of you gospel ministers and even pastors are sellouts. You have sold your conscience to politicians. You have them donating to your programs and to your ministry and to the things that you are doing so it is very easy for you to come on social media and be saying, ‘oh no the president and vice president are working. You know they are working. Because you lack conscience. They are working and children have been k!dn@pped for the past two weeks. Do you know that in other counties some lost dog can be found in 24 hours than children in Nigeria?
I mean this very respectfully. I am a Christian and I believe in prayers but prayers will not do for us what God has given us the ability to do for us.
Policy making is not the product of prayers. China is not developed by prayer, Dubai is not developed by prayer. The places you guys go for holiday was not developed by prayer.”
