Human Rights Activist Raises Alarm Over Widow Facing Imprisonment After Husband’s Death

Human rights advocate Harrison Gwamnishu has provided a fresh update after appearing in court over proceedings related to the death of aspiring musician Mene Ogidi in Asaba, Delta State.

The tragic killing of the young singer sparked widespread reactions on social media weeks ago, with many Nigerians demanding justice. Since the incident, Gwamnishu has remained actively involved in the case, frequently updating the public and insisting that those responsible must be held accountable.

Following the latest court session, the activist took to social media to share details of a development involving the police. Alongside a personal update, he posted a copy of an invitation letter reportedly issued by the Delta State Police Command.

According to Gwamnishu, he believes certain efforts are being made against him in connection with his advocacy. The police invitation listed allegations such as attempted murder, conspiracy, incitement to terrorism, communal unrest, and obstruction.

Despite the accusations outlined in the document, Gwamnishu maintained that he had done nothing wrong and expressed confidence that there was no evidence linking him to any criminal activity.

His post quickly generated reactions online, with many supporters suggesting the police action might be connected to the ongoing pursuit of justice for Mene Ogidi. Several commenters pledged their support for the activist and alleged that there could be attempts to derail the case.

Others expressed concern for his safety, urging him to exercise caution. Some advised him not to respond to the police invitation alone, while others encouraged him to document the process and share updates publicly to ensure transparency.
