VeryDarkMan Reacts As Presidency Threatens Arrest Over Fake Audio Clip

  • Nigerian social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, responded to threats from presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.
  • Onanuga announced potential prosecution for VeryDarkMan over a viral AI-generated audio clip.
  • The audio clip allegedly mimicked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s voice, claiming insecurity would persist due to the 2023 election results.

Nigerian social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has fired back at presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga following threats of arrest over a viral AI-generated audio clip linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Bayo Onanuga had on Wednesday, May 27, announced that VeryDarkMan could face prosecution for allegedly circulating a fake audio recording. The clip, which was said to mimic President Tinubu’s voice, claimed that insecurity would continue because Nigerians did not vote for him in the 2023 presidential election.

Onanuga insisted that those behind the spread of the recording must face the full weight of the law.

Responding in a video posted on Instagram later that night, VeryDarkMan dismissed the allegations and launched a direct attack on the presidential aide, questioning his competence and role in government.

“President spokesman Bayo, you are a very stupid old man. I’m not trying to insult you, but look at the meaning of stupid. That’s what you represent. That is who you are.”

The Ratel President further accused officials in President Tinubu’s administration of lacking critical thinking, alleging that they were using the viral audio issue to distract from deeper national problems rather than addressing insecurity.

“I swear to God, you are so daft, and this is the reason why I said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not come back in 2027 because all the people that operate under him don’t use their brains.”

He also drew attention to recent insecurity incidents in Oyo State, where schoolchildren and teachers were abducted. He claimed reports indicated that one of the teachers had been killed while others were still in captivity, even on Children’s Day.

VDM questioned the silence from the Presidency on the matter while, according to him, attention was being given to threats against him over the viral clip.

“Bandits went into a school in Oyo State, they carried three teachers, one man, two women, they carried students. One of the teachers was backing an infant child. Few days later, there was a report that one of the teachers was behe@ded. Bayo Onanuga, where is your comment on that?”

He concluded by insisting that only gullible people would believe the AI-generated recording, stressing that the real issue is the worsening insecurity situation in the country.

“It’s only stupid people that will believe that video.”
