Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has opened up about what he describes as the harsh reality of the music industry, calling it “very wicked” due to the lack of support among artistes.

The rapper expressed frustration over what he sees as one-sided loyalty in the industry. According to him, he consistently promotes songs released by fellow musicians on his social media platforms, but rarely receives the same energy in return whenever he drops new music.

Speaking via his X account, the ‘Chanel’ hitmaker complained that none of his colleagues had publicly supported his latest release despite his efforts to push their projects in the past.

“I think this [music] industry is very wicked because since I dropped Chanel, none of my peers have posted it,” he wrote.

Blaqbonez went further to mention international stars he has shown support to, including Drake, Central Cee, Future and Gunna.

“@Drake I posted yours last week, @centralcee @1future @1GunnaGunna I support you when you drop but when I put out the biggest song of the summer it’s crickets, the double standards,” he added.

This is not the first time the rapper has publicly criticised the music industry and his colleagues. Back in 2023, Blaqbonez alleged that some artistes were using streaming farms to artificially boost their numbers and manipulate music charts.

Although prominent figures like Don Jazzy and Odumodublvck dismissed his claims at the time, Blaqbonez stood firmly by his allegations, insisting that stream farming exists and has caused “irreversible damage” to the Nigerian music scene.
