“My Mother Is Also a Teacher” – VeryDarkMan Breaks Down Over Oyo School Kidnap

  • VeryDarkMan became emotional while reacting to the kidnapping of teachers and students in Oyo State, saying Nigerian teachers are underpaid and undervalued despite their sacrifices.
  • The activist said the incident felt personal because his mother is a teacher who continues working out of passion despite poor welfare conditions.

Social media commentator VeryDarkMan has reacted emotionally to the recent kidnapping incident involving teachers and students in Oyo State, saying the situation hit him personally because his mother is also a teacher.

Speaking in a video circulating online, the activist lamented the poor welfare and insecurity facing teachers across Nigeria, stressing that many educators continue working out of passion despite low salaries and harsh conditions.

According to him, the abduction of teachers in Oyo reminded him of the sacrifices many Nigerian teachers make daily.

“Because my mother is also a teacher, this feels a lot different. They don’t even pay teachers enough for them to be going through this,” he said.

VeryDarkMan added that his mother, who teaches in a private school, often complains about poor pay but remains committed because of her love for children.

“My mother works in a private school and she complains about not getting paid enough but she can’t stop because she loves these children, that is the story of all the teachers in Nigeria,” he added.

His comments come after gunmen invaded a secondary school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State and abducted the school principal alongside several students during school hours.

The incident sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the growing insecurity affecting schools and teachers across the country.

Reacting to the video, some social media users defended teachers and called for improved welfare and security.

One user wrote:

“Teachers have great impacts in us mehn apart from our parents. They contributed to a large percentage of what we all are today.”

Another said:

“Situations like this show how exposed and undervalued education workers are in this country.”

However, some critics accused VeryDarkMan of using emotions to push narratives online.

“Oya naw emotional blackmail 👀 This boy sabi this game wella,” another user commented.

The Oyo State Police Command had earlier confirmed that security operatives were working to rescue the kidnapped victims and track down the attackers.
