Nigerian pastor Dolapo Lawal has sparked conversations online after sharing his opinion on relocation, financial success, and life abroad.
In a sermon clip that has gone viral, the clergyman stated that many Nigerians moving to countries such as the United Kingdom are not necessarily relocating to become wealthy, but are instead searching for better means of survival.
Pastor Lawal explained that a good number of migrants abroad often engage in stressful jobs, including caregiving roles, simply to sustain themselves and cover living expenses.
He further condemned the growing practice of people disposing of valuable properties and investments in Nigeria before relocating overseas, describing the situation as a form of “modern-day slavery.”
Addressing young Nigerians, the pastor advised them to concentrate on creating opportunities and discovering their abilities within the country rather than assuming success can only be achieved abroad.
According to him, several successful and wealthy individuals he has met built their empires in Nigeria, which he described as a country filled with opportunities for determined and well-connected people with vision.

“How many people you know that are in the UK who are billionaires. They go there to survive. They don’t go there to be rich. All of them are going there to do care jobs. They’re going there to survive. Your ambition is to go and join them. It’s modern sl@v£ry. I know people that sold their properties to go and rent properties abroad. Are you thinking? What are you doing? Instead of you to see how you can get something from God. That thing called light.
You start pointing that thing on your lips and allowing God start to connect you to meet people and going the right places.
Life has a way of bending to people that have something if you keep at it..
A lot of people there are not sending money because they’re self!sh. They don’t have it.
All the billionaires I’ve met, in my life are here. This is the easiest place to be a billionaire. Be wise…” he said.
