- Asa Asika has raised concerns after reportedly using over 250GB of data in 14 days, describing unexplained rapid depletion despite limited activity.
- The post has sparked renewed debate online about data billing, network reliability, and telecom transparency in Nigeria.

Davido’s manager Asa Asika has triggered widespread online reactions after raising concerns over what he described as unusually fast data consumption, despite limited usage patterns and frequent connectivity issues.
In a post shared on X, Asika detailed multiple data purchases within a short period, insisting the usage did not align with his actual internet activity.
“For clarity
27/4 got 25GB
28/4 25GB again
4/5 25GB
5/5 25GB
7/5 25GB
13/5 75GB
this is what I’ve done according to my texts from the network… bear in mind in between these dates I’ve been to 2 other countries”
In a follow-up post, he further expressed frustration over what he described as rapid depletion of data despite minimal outdoor usage.
“I haven’t even been in Lagos collectively for 2 weeks this past month and I’ve bought 10GB like 8 times already… I’m in the office with WiFi. Multiple times I’ve stepped outside on a call only for it to disconnect because my data finished again. Make it make sense!”
The complaints quickly sparked reactions online, with users shifting blame to different telecom providers, particularly MTN Nigeria, while others framed it as a broader issue of network efficiency and transparency in data billing.
Some users responded with frustration:
“MTN… The most useless network provider in Nigeria”
“Na only MTN fit makes you run mad while being healthy.”
Others suggested the issue is widespread and systemic:
“Call out the network that is doing you shege. But I believe it will be MTN”
“Data now na for the rich”
A section of users also argued that corporate complaints from high-profile individuals tend to receive more attention than similar issues faced by ordinary subscribers.
“When a poor man cries out, you ignore them. Now a rich man has cried out, what should we do about it?”
Meanwhile, some attributed the situation to possible background data usage, streaming activity, or network-side inefficiencies.
“You’ll off your data, sleep with peace of mind, wake up and somehow 3GB has joined the ancestors.”
“At this point, data in Nigeria expires emotionally before it finishes technically 😭”
