A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread reactions online after sharing a heartbreaking account of the alleged abuse she endured during her marriage.
In a now-viral video circulating on social media, the woman detailed several disturbing experiences, claiming her husband subjected her to emotional, physical, and psychological abuse throughout their relationship.
According to her, the man allegedly woke her up at odd hours to prepare meals and frequently cheated on her, exposing her to repeated infections.
“My husband would call me by 3 a.m. to wake up and make semo and egusi for him. I was getting infect!ons almost every week because he was a dirty cheat,” she said.
The woman further alleged that her husband once locked their two-month-old baby inside a bathroom whenever the child cried from hunger.
“He would lock our two-month-old baby in the bathroom whenever the baby cried out of hunger,” she added.
Narrating another painful experience, she claimed he refused to take her to the hospital after she suffered a miscarriage and began bleeding.
“He didn’t take me to the hospital when I was bleeding after a miscarriage.”
She also revealed that she allegedly had no freedom in the marriage and had to seek permission before eating food in the house.
“I even had to ask for permission before eating food in the house, even noodles.”
The emotional revelation triggered mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing shock and sympathy, while others questioned why she remained in the relationship for so long.
Reacting, @freshnessofuk wrote, “This isn’t a marriage, it’s a hostage situation. Staying in a house where you need permission to eat is slow suicide.”
Another user, @Bilkis29, commented, “What did I just watch? That wasn’t marriage, you were imprisoned or held hostage.”
However, @bayunsea questioned the story, writing sarcastically, “What did she do to the man? We’re not asking the right question.”
A user identified as @Aleeyahsly, who claimed to be the woman in the video, responded to reactions online, saying, “I am the lady!!!!! And I’d say for a fact that a lot of you just want to talk without knowing the full backstory.”
@SMADesigns1 advised her to leave the marriage, writing, “Run for your life.”
Another user, @OparaJude3, added, “Honestly speaking what kind of men do you guys marry? I wonder what you guys do in courtship?”
