Hon. Godson Odiniya, father of Big Brother Naija Season 8 winner Ilebaye Odiniya, has spoken further about the reported physical clash between them, insisting his actions were driven by frustration while trying to correct his daughter.
In a viral audio recording, he claimed that Ilebaye became more difficult to advise after winning the reality show and allegedly began associating with certain friends who influenced her behaviour.
According to him, he had encouraged her to publicly appreciate those who supported her during her BBNaija journey, but she allegedly refused.
“I told her to give a public appreciation to those who supported us till she won BBN, but she refused. Her fans began to move backwards, and we were not getting support as we expected,” he said.
He further alleged that he repeatedly cautioned her about her lifestyle choices, spending habits, and cosmetic surgery decisions.
“A child of 24/25, she went for surgery to beautify her face, her body and her bumbum. Each time I talk to her, she will insult me. I still swallow the insult and continue to give her advice to the level she started looking at me as her number one enemy,” he alleged.
The father also claimed he advised her to invest in long-term projects that could benefit the less privileged, but said she did not listen.
“The way she spends money… I told her several times, let us have a place that you can develop so that you can help the poor, the less privileged, but she won’t listen,” he added.
Recounting the incident, he alleged that things escalated during an argument when Ilebaye became physical.
“I decided to sit her down and talk to her because she is disappointing me too much. Ilebaye took AC hanger and hit me. She took an electric lantern and broke it on my head, you can see the wound here,” he said.
He also claimed that her post-surgery condition made her more sensitive to minor contact.
He further defended his response, stating that his actions were disciplinary.
“I hit her out of provocation to scold her because I can’t watch her destroy her life,” he said.
Additionally, he expressed disappointment, alleging that she refused to support him financially, including an instance where he reportedly requested assistance for a medical trip to Dubai, which he claimed she declined, while also referencing her spending at a celebrity wedding.
He also accused her of influencing one of her younger brothers negatively, alleging exposure to hard substances, which he said eventually contributed to the boy’s expulsion from school.
