A Nigerian traveller has gone viral online after allegedly using Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to secretly capture security operatives extorting him of ₦200,000 during a roadside stop.
According to reports circulating on social media, the incident reportedly happened along a highway leading toward the eastern part of Nigeria.
The viral footage allegedly shows officers stopping the man, accusing him of being connected to IPOB activities before demanding access to his financial accounts.
Reports claim the operatives allegedly forced transfers from the victim’s OPay account and crypto wallets after assaulting and intimidating him during the encounter.
The video has since generated widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing frustration over repeated allegations of extortion by security agencies across the country.
Reacting to the incident, an X user identified as @Marshall4401 wrote:
“U for no expose how u video the event tomorrow if dem see someone with eyeglass they will tell that person to remove it.”
Another user, @jpchidera, claimed he had experienced a similar situation on the same route.
“I’ve been extorted at this spot too. Because I held a 17 Pro Max iPhone,” he wrote.
A different user, @DubemAjk, questioned why Customs officers were allegedly operating on highways.
“Wetin custom officer dey do for road?” the user asked.
Others argued that such incidents have become common for travellers heading to the eastern region of the country.
Meanwhile, some users urged Nigerians to carefully verify the full context of the viral clip, noting that portions of the video appeared different from the claims made in the caption.
