The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, has reacted to concerns surrounding the remains of late upcoming singer, Mene Ogidi, amid claims made by an influencer on X.

Recall that the 28-year-old was shot dead on April 26, 2026, by a police officer attached to the Effurun-Uvwie Division. Following the incident, the police confirmed the arrest of the officer involved, identified as ASP Nuhu Usman, after a disturbing video of the shooting surfaced online and triggered widespread outrage.

The incident sparked strong reactions from the public, with several celebrities including Yvonne Jegede, comedian I Go Save, Falz, Cubana Chief Priest, and Kanayo O. Kanayo condemning the killing and calling for justice.

Tension further increased after a woman also alleged she had a similar encounter with the same officer, adding to growing concerns over his conduct.

On May 1, 2026, influencer Rinu Oduala claimed online that the police could not account for Mene Ogidi’s body, a statement that raised suspicion and intensified public debate.

However, SP Bright Edafe dismissed the claim, clarifying that the singer’s body was never missing. According to him, the remains are currently kept at a mortuary and the family has been fully informed.

He added that the family is at liberty to view the body at any time, but an autopsy is required due to the circumstances surrounding the death. He also noted that the family has already agreed to the procedure.

“His body is at the mortuary and the family have been told that whenever they want to see it, they will be allowed to. However it’s a case of suspected murder, so autopsy is compulsory and the family also agreed to this. Thank you. It’s called suspected murder. That’s what the law says. A suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction. The evidence is clear, so justice is guaranteed.”

@ChinonsoFriday5:”Bright, the Driver; the evil friend; the park management should be questioned. 2ndly, why can’t our officers wear body cam; their name tag and proper uniform at all times”
