Nigerian media figure Daddy Freeze has reacted to the reported collapse of his colleague Roby Ekpo’s marriage.
Earlier reports revealed that Ekpo had spoken publicly about his separation from his estranged wife, Mayowa Lambe. In an emotional disclosure, he accused her of infidelity, dishonesty, and placing financial pressure on him during their relationship.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Ekpo said he was taken aback to learn that Lambe had remarried after they had spent over a decade together. He alleged that she had been deceptive throughout the marriage, including secretly using contraceptives and misleading him about undergoing treatments related to fertility.
He also claimed that he bore significant financial responsibility in the relationship, supporting her regularly despite his own income limitations. According to him, Lambe had at one point complained to others that he wasn’t meeting her needs.
Reacting to the situation, Daddy Freeze said he would never be in a position where his wife suddenly decides to relocate abroad without him. He suggested that Ekpo made a mistake by allowing his partner to move to the United States alone, advising men to avoid relocating unless it involves their immediate family.
Freeze further stated that many people living abroad secure residency through marriage, citing Lambe as an example. He added that he would neither enter into such arrangements nor permit his spouse to do so. The media personality also argued that the United States is often overrated, noting that Canada may present a more accessible option for relocation.
“My wife can never wake up one day and tell me that she wants to JAPA. I blame Roby for allowing Mayowa to travel to the US. If you cannot relocate with your family, don’t bother relocating. If I don’t love my wife and I’m looking for a way to leave her, it’s either that I go abroad or that I send her abroad. We will drift apart naturally
90% of people abroad got their papers through marriage. Mayowa is an example. Roby said she married to get papers. I can never marry anybody for papers, nor will I allow my wife. Are we suffering? America is even hyped. It is easier to go to Canada than to America. I know many people in America now who are struggling financially”.
