In a video that has been widely shared on social media, Remi encouraged citizens to reconsider the tone of their birthday greetings, highlighting the recent tragic incidents in Plateau State.
His comments arrive at a time when concerns over insecurity and the loss of lives in various parts of the country are intensifying.
In the video, Remi stated: “Today is the birthday of the President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Let’s wish him a happy birthday. But I urge you to think carefully about the message. Use the image of a woman grieving the loss of someone that is the image we should share.
“If you want to wish him well, which I believe we should, please include that video. Look online; you will find it. Fifteen hours ago, a disaster occurred in Plateau. That should guide the way we celebrate this occasion. Thank you, and happy birthday, Mr. President. That is the image to use.”
Through his remarks, Kunle Remi emphasized that the suffering of affected Nigerians should not be overlooked even during moments of national celebration.
