Nollywood star Aremu Afolayan has joined the growing list of celebrities publicly backing President Bola Tinubu as the 2027 general election approaches.

The actor expressed his support at a recent campaign event, where he defended the current government’s policies.

Addressing widespread concerns about the nation’s economy and living standards, Afolayan shared that his own experience does not align with the hardships often highlighted in public discourse, noting that he is personally doing well despite the broader complaints.

He also praised President Tinubu for his diplomatic initiatives, particularly the efforts that contributed to the lifting of travel restrictions on Nigerians by the United Arab Emirates.

Afolayan emphasized his approval of the president’s leadership approach, highlighting that it seeks to unite Nigerians amid the country’s ongoing challenges.

While acknowledging that Nigeria still faces numerous problems, the actor urged people to focus on the government’s positive initiatives rather than only on criticisms.

On issues of national security, Afolayan downplayed reports of insurgency, cautioning against taking such reports at face value.

He said, “When people say the country is hard, I don’t really care because I’m doing very well. When the UAE banned Nigerians from entering their country, it was President Tinubu who went there, met with their president, and helped lift the ban. Nigeria has many problems, but most Nigerians seem more focused on criticizing him and his efforts.

“The good work President Tinubu is doing is why I support him. He is trying to unite Nigerians. And when you watch the news about insurgency, don’t mind them it’s all scripted.”
