- Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has mocked Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi and others he called “terrorist sympathisers” for their reactions to the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
- Gumi had described Khamenei’s death as a “lucky” martyrdom in jihad, prompting sharp criticism from Adeyanju amid global tensions following the U.S.–Israeli airstrikes.

Nigerian activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticized controversial Islamic scholar Ahmad Gumi following the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Adeyanju ridiculed Gumi and others he described as “terrorist sympathisers,” claiming they were upset by the development. He alleged that Gumi was “crying” over the news.
The 86-year-old Khamenei was reportedly killed in airstrikes said to have been carried out jointly by Israel and the United States in Tehran. The operation has sparked global reactions and heightened tensions in the region.
Reacting to the news, Gumi described Khamenei as “a lucky soul” who died in jihad. He stated that the Iranian leader died fighting against the killing of innocent women and children in Gaza and elsewhere. Gumi also said Khamenei’s blood would “fuel change in the ummah,” adding that the late leader stood firmly for justice.
However, Adeyanju wrote on X: “Gumi and other terrorist sympathizers in Nigeria are crying, the demon of Iran is gone.
“Iran makes too much noise for such a weak and defenseless country. Why is their airspace so weak like this? US announced it will attack Iran and still they couldn’t stop all these explosions.
“Why was it so easy for US and Israel to kill the demon of Iran? And why do Israel and US have easy access to Iranian airspace to be attacking them at will after all the noise Iran makes all the time?”
