- Adeife’s apology is prompted by a defamation lawsuit filed against her for ₦15 million.

A female student from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, named Adeife, has issued another public apology to her fellow student, David Adefesobi Ojuko, following previous allegations of r@pe.
The apology comes in the wake of a ₦15 million defamation lawsuit filed against her.
In a video recently posted online, Adeife admitted that labeling David as a r@pist on her WhatsApp status was wrong. She expressed sincere regret, explaining that her comment was made in the heat of the moment.
Adeife said the accusation stemmed from a disagreement with David regarding his views on the trending “Mirabel issue,” which escalated and prompted an emotional response from her.
She acknowledged that her words were careless and hurtful, and she formally withdrew the allegation, confirming that it was baseless. Adeife emphasised that there was no evidence to substantiate her earlier claim.
Additionally, she revealed that both families convened a virtual meeting on Friday, February 20, 2026, to discuss the matter, during which she accepted full responsibility for her actions.
In her words: Good morning, everybody. My name is Ade Ife, and I am here today to sincerely apologise to Davi from the bottom of my heart.
Recently, I made a very wrong statement on my WhatsApp status, tagging David as a rapist. David had only shared his opinion about the Mirabelle’s ongoing saga, and our disagreement led me to speak very carelessly, and it is something that I truly regret.
I want to make it clear that David has never raped anybody. In fact, testimonies around shows that David is a very easygoing and respectful person.
Our families met on virtual meeting on Friday, February 20th, 2026, including myself and David. I accepted my wrongdoings and all discordance from the family members, and after the deliberation, it was decided that I should write a letter of apology to David. I should make a retraction video on my status and apologise to David, and thirdly, my parents should visit Ile Ife for the physical apology.
On Sunday, 22nd February, 2026, my family visited his family in Ile Ife for the physical apology. I have learned my lessons from these incidents. Words spoken in anger can cause serious harm, and I want others to learn from this that you should never let your emotions override you.
Once again, I am very, very sorry, David. I am truly sorry from the depth of my heart, and I want to promise everybody that such will not repeat itself. Thank you for listening. I am sorry once again, David. Thank you.
