- Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed says anyone seeking to defeat President Tinubu must be politically tough and prepared for a hard fight, insisting the battle will not be won in court.
- Baba-Ahmed, who has consistently criticised Nigeria’s electoral process, appeared to suggest that opposition forces must focus on preventing manipulation before and during elections

Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has made a striking statement about the political resolve required to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during a recent public engagement, Baba-Ahmed declared that anyone aiming to defeat Tinubu must be prepared for a fierce political battle, insisting that it would not be a contest settled in the courtroom.
“Whoever is going to defeat Tinubu must be ready to show your red eyes. There’s no going to court,” he said.
The remark has sparked widespread reactions, with supporters interpreting it as a call for political toughness, grassroots mobilisation, and strategic vigilance rather than reliance on post-election litigation. Critics, however, argue that such language risks inflaming tensions in an already charged political environment.
Baba-Ahmed, who has consistently criticised Nigeria’s electoral process, appeared to suggest that opposition forces must focus on preventing manipulation before and during elections, rather than depending on legal challenges after results are declared.
His comments come amid early manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition figures intensify debates on how best to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Tinubu’s incumbency.
In other news…. Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck once again proved his reputation as one of the most outspoken and unpredictable personalities online after making a bold promise during the Super Eagles’ tense semi-final encounter with Morocco at the 2026 AFCON.
As the high-stakes match unfolded and nerves ran high nationwide, the rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) to air his frustration. In a post that quickly gained attention, he vowed never to collaborate with any Ghanaian artiste if Nigeria ended up losing the game.
His reaction followed widespread criticism of the officiating, which was led by Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea. Many Nigerian fans accused the referee of making decisions that favoured Morocco at crucial moments, a view Odumodublvck appeared to share.
According to the rapper, the encounter went beyond football, reflecting the long-standing rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana that often spills into sports and entertainment.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that singer Davido also reacted to Nigeria’s loss after reportedly losing a huge bet. Before kickoff, Davido had announced online that he staked $50,000 on the Super Eagles to qualify for the final, a wager that eventually collapsed following the defeat.
Despite the loss, the award-winning artiste later shared a photo of himself enjoying a plate of grilled fish, appearing relaxed and unfazed by the outcome of the match or the financial setback.
