A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread reactions on social media after revealing that her husband contracted HIV following pressure from his mother to divorce her.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the woman explained that her mother-in-law never supported their marriage and consistently tried to end it. She claimed this pressure led her husband to leave the marriage and begin having multiple affairs.
She wrote:
“My mother inlaw pushed my in husband to divOrce me. Just because she never wanted her son to marry me in the first place, and now my husband has started chasing anything inside skirt.
“Me i only focus on taking care of myself and our kids. Now he is sick. They took him to the hospital. The test they did is out, and he is HIV POSITIVE, Now i am leaving him. His mother wants me to stay. Please advise me..”
The post quickly went viral, drawing strong reactions from netizens who offered advice, sympathy, and criticism.
Reacting to the post,Ijoba suggested: “First marry into a family that loves you. Secondly HIV can be manage and you can stand by him and support him and show him all the love he needs. Lastly go get tested before anything.”
Idara said: “I hate men who can’t make their decision and stand their ground when it comes to family or anything that has to do with them direct. Why allowed to be influenced by your mother in such way? It shows how weak a man he is.”
