Nollywood actor Tony Akposheri recently touched the hearts of fans and movie enthusiasts with a heartfelt video shared on his Instagram page.
In the clip, Akposheri visited veteran actor Rev. Davis Ofor, widely known as Clarus from NTA’s iconic New Masquerade. He reflected on the inevitability of aging, emphasizing that the impact people make in their youth endures forever, while also wishing the beloved actor a happy New Year.
The video showed Akposheri assisting Clarus down the stairs in his home, followed by a warm embrace and a friendly conversation. Despite his age and the need for walking support, Clarus appeared healthy and still wore the signature smile that once lit up Nigerian television screens.
Fans were deeply moved by Akposheri’s gesture, praising him for remembering the elder statesman. Many also reminisced about the classic sitcom that brought laughter into Nigerian homes during the 1980s and 1990s. They fondly recalled watching New Masquerade with family members, along with some of the memorable actors and actresses featured in the series.
Written by James Iroha, who also played the character Giringory, New Masquerade became one of Nigeria’s longest-running television shows. The programme showcased beloved characters like Ramota, Jegede Shokoya, Giringory, and several others, cementing its place in Nigerian entertainment history.
Akposheri’s act of kindness echoes the efforts of other Nollywood stars like Kunle Afod, who is known for supporting veteran actors through visits and financial assistance to aid their well-being.
