Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker Muyiwa Ademola has opened up about why he could not attend the burial of his cousin, the late actress Allwell Ademola, in Lagos.
The Yoruba film star shared an emotional message on social media shortly after the ceremony.
Allwell Ademola was laid to rest between Thursday, January 8, and Friday, January 9, at a cemetery in the Yaba area of Lagos. Many prominent figures from the Yoruba movie industry were present to pay their final respects.
Fans, however, quickly noticed the absence of Muyiwa Ademola at the event.
After the burial, Muyiwa Ademola took to social media to explain that he was abroad at the time and could not make it back in time to attend his cousin’s final rites.
In his tribute, he expressed his sorrow over her passing and reflected on the fragile nature of life. He also sent greetings to departed family members, including his father, Awofe Ademola, and his uncle, Adetokunbo Ademola.
He wrote:
“It’s a final goodbye, Couz. The hardest part is not being in the country to witness your final journey home. Your passing is another painful reminder that tomorrow is never guaranteed. Each day we live brings us closer to our final day, and each birthday takes us nearer to the last. May we live long, amen. Sun re o Omo Oba EniObanke Ademola, bami ki baba mi Awofe Ademola, ki Uncle Adetokunbo Ademola… o digba o! O di gbere!”
Following his post, many social media users sent condolences and prayers to the Ademola family.
