A Northern Islamic cleric has sparked controversy after declaring that America cannot defeat Muslims and warning that they are ready to confront the U.S. if provoked. The remarks have drawn mixed reactions online, with critics urging restraint.

A Northern-based Islamic cleric has sparked widespread reactions after issuing a fiery statement directed at former United States President Donald Trump and the U.S. military, declaring that America would be unable to defeat Muslims in the event of a confrontation.

The cleric, whose remarks circulated widely on social media, dismissed the military strength of the United States, insisting that Muslims are prepared to resist any form of aggression.

“America cannot defeat us, and if they insist on fighting us, we are more than ready to confront them,” he reportedly said during a sermon.

The comments, which quickly went viral, have generated mixed reactions across social and political circles.

In other news….. The Federal Government has dismissed claims that Nigerian scholarship students in Morocco have been neglected, describing the reports as false and misleading.

The denial follows viral videos on social media, including one shared by activist Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan), in which students alleged they had gone years without receiving financial support despite being beneficiaries of federal scholarships.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade, said the claims were “false, unfounded, and deliberately crafted to misinform the public.”

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, clarified that no Nigerian student on a valid Federal Government scholarship has been abandoned. He stated that all students enrolled under the Bilateral Education Scholarship Programme before 2024 were paid in line with the 2024 budget.

According to the ministry, any outstanding delays are due to fiscal constraints and are being addressed through engagements with the Ministry of Finance.

The statement also rejected claims that new bilateral scholarships were awarded in 2025, describing circulating documents as fake and unauthenticated. It stressed that no new bilateral scholarship awards were made in October 2025 or afterward.

Alausa explained that the government discontinued fully funded bilateral scholarships abroad after determining that Nigerian tertiary institutions now have sufficient capacity. Only scholarships fully funded by foreign governments are currently supported, while students already enrolled will continue to receive funding until graduation.
